About Mayflower Park
Mayflower Park is a large waterfront park in the older part of Southampton, laid out on reclaimed land beside the River Test and managed by Southampton City Council. It is one of the city's most-used parks, popular with residents and visitors for its open views across the water and over the maritime traffic of the docks. Families come for the enclosed children's playground, which is fully fenced for safety and fitted with modern swings, slides, climbing frames and balancing equipment. Alongside the play area there is a multi-use games area (MUGA) for ball games, together with open grassland and a fully accessible waterfront promenade that is ideal for a stroll or for watching cruise ships and ferries come and go. There is a cafe on site and public toilets. Parking is chargeable and is now controlled by an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, with barriers installed at the entrance. The park regularly hosts events, including the Southampton International Boat Show, when access arrangements can change. Entry to the park and the use of the playground are free.
