About Frecheville Park and Pond

Frecheville Park and Pond is a popular local park in the Frecheville area of south-east Sheffield, listed among Sheffield City Council's parks. Its centrepiece is a swan pond, used for fishing, with a community centre and cafe at Churchdale Road beside it. The children's playground is one of the busiest small play areas in the city, and Sheffield City Council carried out around £131,600 of improvements that added a new pirate ship, a scooter track and a lifeboat climb, together with a nature garden, an inclusive roundabout and a seating area, with space set aside for wildlife. A basketball court sits alongside the playground, giving older children somewhere to play too. The park is cared for with the help of the Friends of Frecheville Park and Pond, a group of local people and volunteers working together to improve and maintain the site. With its pond, revamped and accessible play equipment, nature garden and cafe, Frecheville Park makes a varied, free outing for families, and its compact size keeps everything within easy reach.
