About Coronation Park

Coronation Park is the main public park in Maltby, on the eastern edge of the borough, set on Muglet Lane and covering just over two and a half hectares. It first opened in the 1930s and was renamed Coronation Park in 1953 to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Owned and maintained by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, it combines generous open grassland for informal games and dog walking with a good range of facilities for families. The well-equipped children's play area has swings, slides and climbing frames, and includes inclusive kit such as an inclusive spring, inclusive swing and a wheelchair-accessible roundabout, making it a welcoming space for children of all abilities. Older children and teenagers have a small skate park, outdoor gym equipment and a multi-use games area, while tennis courts and a crown-green bowling green are open to the public. The park is free to enter. It serves as a central green space and community hub for Maltby, hosting everyday recreation for local families alongside sports and informal play throughout the year.
