About Diamond Jubilee Gardens Playground
Diamond Jubilee Gardens is a riverside open space on The Embankment in Twickenham, tucked behind King Street on the corner of the Embankment and Wharf Lane. It is a popular spot for all ages and especially young families, combining a secure, enclosed children's play area with a sand pit, riverside seating with views up and down the Thames, and a hard surface used for community events. On-site facilities include Cafe Sunshine, toilets and a petanque piste. The gardens have occupied the site of a former open-air swimming pool since 2005 and were re-landscaped and dedicated as the Diamond Jubilee Gardens in 2012. They are run by the Twickenham Riverside Trust under a long lease granted by Richmond Council. The gardens are within the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and are free to enter, easily reached from Twickenham station and local bus routes.
