Walker Park is a welcoming community park in the east of Newcastle, owned by Newcastle City Council and managed by Urban Green Newcastle. Its play area for children under 14 has a brilliant selection of swings, aerial runways and climbing units and is popular with local families. The wider park offers a lot to do: two bowling greens with a pavilion, two football pitches, a multi-use games area for football, tennis and basketball, and a skate park, with floodlights for evening sport. A WWI memorial stands within the grounds. The Walker Park cafe, run by Walker Central FC, sells coffee, cakes, hot food and ice cream. One point to note is that there are currently no toilet facilities at the park.
