About Addington Way Play Area

Addington Way is a neighbourhood recreation ground and play area in the Challney ward of Luton, run by Luton Borough Council. It sits along Addington Way, a winding road through the Leagrave and Challney area, on grassland near Challney High School. The site is one of the roughly 60 council-managed playgrounds included in Luton's multi-million-pound play area refurbishment programme, which is upgrading equipment across the borough. The space is split into two fenced play zones so that different age groups have their own areas: a smaller enclosure aimed at toddlers and younger children, and a separate grassed area with equipment for older children. Younger visitors have baby swings, spring riders, a small roundabout and a see-saw, while older children can enjoy a tyre swing, standard swings and a zip line. Most of the recreation ground is grass, with a rubber safety surface laid beneath the play equipment. There is no dedicated car park on site and no public car park within about 200 metres, but a bus stop is within 150 metres and the site is within reach of the wider Leagrave area. Admission is free.
