About Potternewton Park
Potternewton Park is a well-loved green space in the heart of Chapeltown, about two miles north-east of Leeds city centre, covering just over 32 acres and managed by Leeds City Council. It is best known across the city for hosting the annual Leeds West Indian Carnival, but it is also a strong family park year-round. In the centre of the park, just below the sports courts, is a children's playground with a variety of installations that appeal to both toddlers and older children, and the equipment has been chosen to promote inclusive play, including adapted equipment for children with different abilities. Multiple entrances provide wheelchair access throughout the grounds. Around the playground families will find open parkland, flower beds, a bowling green, tennis courts, a skate park, a basketball court and even a giant chessboard, giving plenty of activities for all ages. As a free, inclusive and varied neighbourhood park with a lively community calendar, Potternewton Park is a great local day out for Chapeltown families.
