About Cross Flatts Park

Cross Flatts Park sits in the heart of Beeston, a suburb just south of Leeds city centre. Covering about 44 acres, the land was once owned by Kirkstall Abbey and was bought by Leeds City Council in 1891; it remains a council-managed community park today, supported by the active Friends of Cross Flatts Park volunteer group. The park has been revamped with a merged children's playground that caters for both toddlers and juniors, so it suits families with children of mixed ages. Alongside the play area there are basketball and tennis courts and plenty of open parkland for ball games, running and community events. Leeds City Council has also been progressing plans, with Football Foundation funding, to upgrade the multi-use games area into a gated PlayZone with resurfaced, floodlit courts marked for football, basketball, netball and cricket. As a free, well-used neighbourhood green space with varied play and sports facilities, Cross Flatts Park is a reliable local day out for Beeston families.
