About Birchfield Farm

Birchfield Farm is a family-run dairy farm set in the heart of Nidderdale at Summerbridge, within the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire. Best known for its home-made ice cream, it has grown into a proper family day out combining farm animals with lots of play. In the animal barn and petting area children can meet sheep, piglets, goats, ponies, donkeys, guinea pigs and rabbits, with gentle hands-on encounters for little animal lovers. The play offering is strong for all weathers: an indoor playground with slides, a fireman's pole and a mini climbing wall sits alongside an outdoor playground with swings, a basket swing, a zip line and an obstacle course, plus bouncy castles, a giant sandpit and pedal go-karts for ages three and up. A woodland walk and seasonal activities such as a maize maze and a pumpkin festival add to the appeal through the year. The on-site cafe and ice-cream parlour serves breakfasts, toasties, sandwiches, cakes and of course the farm's own ice cream. Parking is free. Opening is seasonal and hours vary, so it is worth checking the website before setting off.
