About Freightliners City Farm

Freightliners City Farm is a free community farm in the heart of Islington's Lower Holloway, a leafy green escape that welcomes over 40,000 visitors a year and makes an easy outing for families across North and East London. Named after the railway land it grew from, the farm is home to a variety of farm animals including cows, sheep, goats and poultry, many of them rare and traditional breeds, so children can meet the animals and learn about where food comes from. Alongside the animal pens there are gardens and growing areas to explore. Entry is free - the farm runs as a charity sustained by donations, grants and income from its cafe and activities. The on-site cafe serves food and drinks from Thursday to Sunday, and there is a regular programme of volunteering and seasonal events. The farmyard opens Monday and Wednesday to Sunday from 10:30am to 4:30pm and is closed on Tuesdays, so it is worth checking the latest times before you set off. There is no visitor car park, but the farm is close to Caledonian Road, Holloway Road and Highbury & Islington stations and is well served by buses, making it a simple, free day out in the city.
