About Gloucester Park
Gloucester Park is the city's premier open space, an 11-hectare green expanse close to the city centre that began life as the Spa Pleasure Grounds in 1815 and opened as a public park in 1848. Its children's play area sits in the centre of the park, close to the cafe, and offers a wide variety of play equipment for families. The park is a genuine community hub: a cafe run by Community Roots CIC offers affordable refreshments, with two nearby toilet blocks including an accessible toilet with baby-changing facilities. Beyond the playground there is an aviary, an outdoor gym, a table tennis table, a skate park and a multi-use sports pitch, together with a bandstand, flower beds, a memorial garden and a water feature. Sports clubs including Gloucester City Winget Cricket Club and Gloucester Spa Bowling Club are based here. The park sits within a conservation area and is home to a Grade II listed statue of Queen Anne. Sealed footpaths make it easy to explore, and the popular Gloucester City parkrun takes place every Saturday morning. Entry to the park and its play area is free.
