About St Mark's Park

St Mark's Park is a free, public park in the Warriston district of north-east Edinburgh, on the north bank of the Water of Leith opposite Powderhall, managed by the City of Edinburgh Council. It is an informal green space that combines open grass with community woodland and a football pitch, used by Craigroyston Football Club. One of its best features is its setting on the river: the Water of Leith Walkway runs right through the park, so it links easily into longer riverside and cycle routes and makes a natural stop for families out for a walk. For younger visitors there is a children's play area on the Warriston Road side, aimed at toddlers and juniors. The relaxed, semi-natural character of the park, its riverside position and its direct access to the walkway give it a different feel from the city's more formal parks, and it is well used by local families, dog walkers, runners and footballers. Its location close to Canonmills and Broughton makes it a handy green space for the north and north-east of the city.
