About Chellaston Park

Chellaston Park sits in around 5 hectares of open space to the south east of Derby city centre, close to the city boundary. The land was originally farmland transferred to the council through a planning agreement in 1994, and it was designed and laid out for both formal and informal recreation in 1995, including a play area, sports facilities and a sports pavilion. The fenced playground is the centrepiece for families and is suitable for a wide age group from toddlers to teenagers. Multi-play units, swings, a slide and roundabouts are arranged into two distinct groups according to the age of the user, so younger and older children have their own space. Beyond the play area the park offers football and cricket provision, a 3G pitch, an outdoor gym, changing rooms and a community sports pavilion. A circular footpath runs around the perimeter, making the park popular with dog walkers and anyone wanting a gentle loop. A free car park is signposted off Snelsmoor Lane, with a 2m height barrier at the entrance.
