About Coombe Abbey Park (Coombe Country Park)
Coombe Abbey Park, also known as Coombe Country Park, is the largest recreational area owned by Coventry City Council, set across around 500 acres of lake, woodland, gardens and parkland at Brinklow Road, Binley, on the eastern edge of the city. Entry to the parkland is free, with charges only for the car park (from around £1.50). The park now has three free purpose-built play areas: a Visitor Centre play area designed for under-12s, the Climbing Forest with cargo nets and climbing posts, and the newly opened Hermit's Hollow adventure play area, where children clamber among the treetops on the Canopy Spire, send messages through a talking tube and whizz down a spiralling tube slide via walkways, ramps, tunnels and bridges. The visitor centre is open daily from 10am to 3pm and houses an accessible toilet and baby-changing, with an additional external accessible toilet, and there is a cafe in the park open roughly 9am to 5pm. Lakeside and woodland trails, formal gardens and the historic Coombe Abbey (now a hotel) make it a destination for a full family day out, with dog walking welcomed across the grounds.
