About Caludon Castle Park

Caludon Castle Park lies off Farren Road about three miles east of Coventry city centre and is a free, public park managed by Coventry City Council. Its centrepiece is the ruin of Caludon Castle, a scheduled ancient monument and Grade I listed structure whose single surviving sandstone wall and former fish pool recall a site fortified under a 1305 licence to crenellate and later rebuilt as an Elizabethan mansion. Around this heritage core the council has created modern recreation facilities. Families will find a children's play area suited to younger children with swings, slides and rope bridges, alongside a teen area with a youth shelter. There is a multi-use games area catering for five-a-side football, basketball, netball and tennis, plus jogging trails and outdoor fitness equipment. Recent improvements have included new entrance gates, a refurbished driveway and an upgraded public car park reached from Farren Road, together with a new play area. The combination of medieval ruins, open green space and up-to-date play and sports provision makes it a distinctive family park on the Wyken and Stoke Heath side of the city.
