About Temple Newsam Home Farm & Play Barn

Temple Newsam Home Farm & Play Barn sits within Leeds City Council's historic Temple Newsam estate, just a short drive from Bradford. The working rare-breeds farm lets families meet animals such as Vaynol cattle, White Faced Woodland sheep and Middle White pigs, part of its conservation work preserving traditional breeds. In 2026 a 100-year-old cow byre reopened as an indoor adventure play barn with two zones - one for toddlers and one for children up to 12 - themed around the animals and countryside of the estate. A single admission ticket gives all-day access to both the farm and the play barn, and there is a family-friendly cafe serving drinks and light bites plus a gift shop. The wider estate also offers parkland walks and the historic house. Admission is GBP 9.00 per person with under-3s free, and advance booking is recommended at busy times; on weekends and in school holidays play sessions run to timed slots. It is open daily with seasonal hours, making it an easy year-round day out with animals and play under one roof.
