About Whitehall Park
Whitehall Park is a Victorian park in Darwen, classified by the council as a neighbourhood play space and located directly on Bolton Road, which makes it easy to reach. Darwen Corporation acquired around 6 hectares (14 acres) of land from John Adamson in 1879 and the park opened the same year, giving it a long heritage as a public green space for the town. The children's playground has received a £100,000 investment and now features a wide range of new equipment that is inclusive to all, allowing children of different abilities to play together in a safe space. Further funding has been secured to add a new cycle track around the playground, extending the range of active facilities for families. Because the park sits directly on a main road it is accessible and easy to travel to, serving the surrounding Darwen community as a convenient local amenity. Managed by Blackburn with Darwen Council, Whitehall Park is free to enter and open to the public, combining Victorian park heritage with modern, inclusive play provision and a growing offer for cycling and outdoor activity.
