About Queen's Park

Queen's Park is a 10-acre public park in Harborne, Birmingham, managed by Birmingham City Council. It was established in 1898 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, after a plot bought by the Harborne Charity Fete Committee was gifted to the city, and it has been a focal point for local recreation ever since. For families there is a children's playground, which has had new play equipment and safety surfacing installed through work by the council with the Friends of Queens Park, along with a new recycled-plastic retaining wall. The park also has tennis courts, a basketball court, informal football space and park benches, set among wooded areas and a wetland habitat. Historically the park included a notable garden for blind visitors, first opened in 1953 for the Queen's coronation with raised scented banks, textured guide paths and braille labels. There are entrances on Queen's Park Road and Court Oak Road (A4123), with a car park accessible from the Court Oak Road entrance and accessible tarmac paths.
