About Tam O'Shanter Urban Farm
Tam O'Shanter Urban Farm is a free-to-enter community farm tucked into the side of Bidston Hill on the Wirral, run by a charitable trust and open every day except the main winter holidays. It's a genuine family attraction where little ones can get hands-on, meeting and feeding a mix of animals including alpacas, sheep, goats, hens, ducks, pigs, ponies, rabbits and guinea pigs. Alongside the paddocks there are two children's play areas so younger visitors can burn off energy, plus picnic spots and an on-site cafe for a cup of tea and a snack. The whole site is level and wheelchair-friendly, with accessible toilets and free parking right by the entrance, making it an easy stop for families with buggies. Because entry is free, it's one of the most relaxed and affordable days out in the Birkenhead area, equally suited to a quick morning visit or a longer afternoon exploring the farm and surrounding woodland of Bidston Hill. Donations are welcomed to help care for the animals.
