About Taylor Park
Taylor Park is the largest of St Helens' Victorian parks, established on land given to St Helens Corporation in 1892 by Samuel Taylor and officially opened to the public in 1893. Managed by St Helens Borough Council and a Green Flag Award winner, it stretches from dense woodland to large expanses of water and grassland near Prescot Road in Grange Park. Families come for its two play areas, which now include an inclusive Wicksteed swirl roundabout designed for children with special educational needs and disabilities, part of a wider council programme to make play areas accessible to all. There is also grass space for informal games and natural play areas for free, imaginative play. Beyond the playgrounds, the park offers a lake, outdoor gym equipment, woodland walks, picnic areas and The Mount, a high point that commands panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. A cafe, toilet facilities, an Events Centre and car parking make it an easy place to spend a few hours. With its Victorian heritage, generous green space and inclusive play, Taylor Park is one of the most rewarding free family days out in St Helens for children of all ages and abilities.
