About Babbs Mill Park
Babbs Mill is a Green Flag Award park and local nature reserve in Kingshurst, created in 1977 to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee and managed by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. It offers a varied, wild landscape alongside family facilities and is free to enter, open to pedestrians around the clock. The children's play area provides play facilities for children of all ages and abilities, and there is outdoor table tennis beside the play equipment, a skate park and a basketball court, giving older children plenty to do. A football pitch is also available. At the heart of the reserve is a large lake with the River Cole running through, popular for walks and for fishing with the appropriate licence, and the park hosts a weekly parkrun. The site forms part of the wider green corridor in this part of the borough and supports a good range of wildlife. Free car parking is available off Fordbridge Road, with the car park opening at 8:00am and gates closing at 9:00pm in summer or 5:00pm in winter. Local bus routes serve the area and Lea Hall and Marston Green train stations are within walking distance. A full AccessAble access guide is published by the council for visitors planning ahead. Babbs Mill combines nature, water and active play in one free, accessible space.
