About Liberton Park
Liberton Park is a City of Edinburgh Council park on Liberton Gardens in the south of the city. It has existed since the late 1930s, originally left as open space alongside the large water treatment works to the south, and was designed to provide a sporting facility together with somewhere for residents to walk and for children to play safely. The park includes playing fields, a small children's play area for toddlers and juniors, outdoor gym equipment, picnic tables and seating. The small play area is popular with young children and their families, while the football pitches on the west of the park are leased by a local football club. As a long-established neighbourhood green space it offers free, open recreation for the Liberton community. The park is served by several Lothian Buses routes and is managed by the City of Edinburgh Council. It is freely accessible throughout the year for play, exercise and informal recreation.
