About Rosshall Park
Rosshall Park is a historic municipal park in the Crookston area of south-west Glasgow, set on the former grounds of the Ross Hall Estate and managed by Glasgow City Council. The mansion house was built in 1877 by James Cowan, the estate was acquired by Glasgow Corporation in 1948, and the grounds were opened to the public in 1967. The park is best known for its Category B-listed walled rock garden, created by the renowned firm James Pulham and Son using their trademark artificial 'Pulhamite' rockwork, complete with a grotto, rockery, ornamental paths twisting through the trees and an underground boathouse. Alongside this heritage landscape there are flat grassy areas, a lily pond and mature trees, and importantly for families a children's play park. The main entrance is on Crookston Road, around six miles south-west of the city centre. Combining a formal historic rock garden of national interest with open grassland and a play area, Rosshall Park offers a distinctive free day out for families, with the Pulhamite gardens making it one of the more unusual and attractive parks in south Glasgow.
