About Queensland Gardens Community Park

Queensland Gardens Community Park is a community green space in Cardonald, in the south-west of Glasgow, created by transforming underused greenspace beneath the multi-storey flats at Queensland Court and Gardens into a vibrant, climate-resilient park. Completed in 2023, the project was delivered jointly by Southside Housing Association and Glasgow City Council through the Glasgow City Region City Deal and the Metropolitan Glasgow Strategic Drainage Partnership, with both the UK and Scottish Governments contributing funding, and it has since been recognised in a national report. For families the park has dedicated toddler and children's play zones with climbing frames, slides and natural play equipment for climbing, swinging and sliding, plus a bicycle pump track for bikes and scooters and cycle storage. A winding path leads through the greenspace past seating areas and informal woodland, while nature-based drainage features such as rain gardens, basins and swales reduce local flood risk and bring wildlife and greenery into the heart of the estate. Surveys after the works reported increased neighbourhood satisfaction. Combining active play, cycling and climate-resilient landscaping, Queensland Gardens Community Park is a free, public park and a greener community hub for Cardonald.
