About Corporation Park

Corporation Park is a traditional Victorian park a short walk from Blackburn town centre, registered by Historic England as a park and garden of special historic interest. Opened in 1857, it rises up a hillside and is laid out with formal terraces, ornamental gardens, two lakes and mature woodland. Families come for the children's play area set near the lakes, where younger visitors can enjoy climbing and sliding apparatus, with additional natural play features elsewhere in the grounds. Beyond the playground, the park offers a wide range of sporting facilities including tennis courts, all-weather courts, multi-use games areas and bowling greens, alongside flat grassed areas for informal games and picnics. The restored conservatory, fountains and historic structures reflect the park's heritage character, while the elevated paths give views across the town. Managed by Blackburn with Darwen Council, Corporation Park is free to enter and remains one of the borough's best-loved green spaces for both recreation and quiet enjoyment, suitable for family days out across the seasons.
