About Witton Country Park

Witton Country Park is a 480-acre public park on the western edge of Blackburn, made up of mixed woodland, parkland, grassland and farmland. It is home to the Wits play area, described as the largest and most popular play area in the borough, which includes a toddler area, a younger children's area and a larger adventure playground for older children, with climbing apparatus, a slide, a wobbly bridge and large musical instruments. Deeper within the woods on the eastern side, the Big Cover Wood adventure playground offers wildlife sculptures, a rope bridge, a giant xylophone and a climbing frame. The wider park provides nature trails, woodland walks, picnic areas and a range of sporting facilities including an athletics track and all-weather sports turf. A visitor centre near the main entrance supports family visits, and there is a large car park off Preston Old Road. Managed by Blackburn with Darwen Council, Witton Country Park is free to enter and is one of the most popular destinations in the borough for families, walkers and those looking to enjoy a large natural green space close to the town.
