About Mouldon Hill Country Park
Mouldon Hill Country Park is a free country park to the north-west of Swindon town centre, within the parish of Haydon Wick and reached off Thamesdown Drive opposite the Taw Hill junction. It is owned and managed by Swindon Borough Council and takes its name from the hill within it, which peaks at around 105 metres above sea level. The park combines family play with nature and heritage: for children there is an equipped play area built to LEAP (Locally Equipped Area for Play) standard, while the wider site offers a network of paths and walkways, a hidden lake, and plenty of space to roam. A restored section of the North Wilts Canal, cared for by the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust, runs through the park, and the River Ray passes through too, supporting fish and a range of wildlife. The heritage Swindon and Cricklade Railway operates a station within the park, adding an extra draw for younger visitors. There is a free car park on site, though a 2.1 metre height restriction applies at the entrance. As a largely open, informal country park it has limited built facilities, so it suits walks, play and nature spotting rather than a full day-out with catering on site.
