About Albert Park
Albert Park is Middlesbrough's best-loved Victorian green space, covering around 30 hectares (72 acres) just south of the town centre off Linthorpe Road. It was officially opened by Prince Arthur of Connaught, son of Queen Victoria, on 11 August 1868, and has held Green Flag status continuously since 2017. Families find separate play areas for younger and older children, with the younger children's area set on a sand base. Beyond the playgrounds there is plenty to fill a day: a boating lake offering boat and swan-pedalo hire, a roller skating rink, tennis courts, bowling greens and a restored bandstand. Historic features include the clock tower, war memorial walls, a Grade II listed sundial and the Brian Clough statue, while a visitor centre and cafe sit at the heart of the park. There is free parking at the Albert Park car park and further spaces along Clairville Common. A free parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9am, with a junior parkrun on Sundays. Entry to the park is free all year round.
