About Springfield Park Playground
Springfield Park is a 22-acre neighbourhood park in Knotty Ash, on the north side of East Prescot Road and next to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, which was rebuilt on part of the original parkland and opened in 2015. The land began as the grounds of Springfield House and was acquired by Liverpool Corporation in 1907; it still contains a Grade II listed red-sandstone obelisk commemorating Lord Nelson. For families the park has a state-of-the-art, accessible children's play area with climbing frames, swings, roundabouts, a wobbly bridge, sand play, interactive panels, a slide and an accessible see-saw. There is also a multi-use games area, reserve football pitches, a trim trail and a wildflower meadow, and the park links onto the Liverpool Loop Line and the Trans Pennine Trail for walking and cycling.
