About Stamshaw Park

Stamshaw Park is a large park in the Stamshaw area of north-west Portsmouth, laid out during the 1970s on land reclaimed from the sea as part of the construction of the M275 motorway. Managed by Portsmouth City Council, it gives this part of the city a generous green lung close to the harbour shoreline. For families it offers children's play equipment plus a supervised adventure playground, part of the council's network of free adventure playgrounds run by its play and youth services, giving older children a staffed, exciting place to play. Alongside the play provision there is a kickabout area for informal games and a skate park for older children and teenagers. The park connects to the Stamshaw foreshore coastal path, so it is easy to combine play with a walk along the water. As a large, open and free local park with both traditional play equipment and a supervised adventure playground, Stamshaw Park is a practical everyday destination for families in the north of Portsea Island. Admission to the park and its play area is free.
