About Ravensknowle Park

Ravensknowle Park sits on Wakefield Road in Moldgreen, a little under five hectares and very popular with local families. The land was originally the grounds of Ravensknowle Hall, now Tolson Museum, and was gifted to Huddersfield Corporation in 1919 as a memorial to the owner's nephews who were lost in the First World War. Today it is owned and maintained by Kirklees Council. The park has a dedicated children's play area with traditional equipment such as swings and slides, set beside a large open field, and it is a firm favourite with families with young children as well as dog walkers who enjoy the space for leisurely strolls. The striking Cloth Hall Shelter marks the entrance, and the grounds include gardens and well-kept pathways. Tolson Museum within the park offers free entry and refreshments, although it opens only limited hours, so it is worth checking times before relying on it for a drink or snack. There is ample free parking, including wheelchair-accessible spaces. Ravensknowle is one of the parks included in Kirklees Council's playground modernisation plans under the Playable Spaces Strategy. Free to enter and open to the public, it is a relaxed, green day out close to Huddersfield town centre.
