About Wigmore Valley Park

Wigmore Valley Park is one of Luton Borough Council's largest open spaces, covering around 85 acres of grassland and woodland on the eastern edge of town, and it is a designated County Wildlife Site rich in native plants and wildlife. The park reopened in 2026 after a major improvement scheme that transformed its family facilities. At its heart is a large new children's play area themed around travel and aviation, a nod to the nearby airport, with colourful swings, slides, zip lines, seesaws and climbing structures. The play area was designed to be inclusive, bringing together younger and older children of all abilities in one shared space with equipment for universal use. Alongside it, a modern concrete skatepark plaza caters for skateboarders, BMX riders and scooter users of all levels. The works also added a new cafe kiosk run by the Royal Voluntary Service, three public toilets including an accessible cubicle, resurfaced car parks with accessible bays, and a looped accessible path through the park. Admission is free, and the park remains a favourite with families and dog walkers.
