About Chorlton Park
Chorlton Park, on Nell Lane, opened as a public park in 1928 and is the largest municipal park in Chorlton-cum-Hardy; part of the site is said to have been used for horse racing centuries ago. Managed by Manchester City Council, it combines a children's playground with areas for juniors and under-5s, a multi-use games area, a basketball court, tennis courts, an outdoor gym and a skate park, set among mature trees, open playing fields and an enclosed bowling green with its own pavilion. A visitors' centre with community rooms sits within the park. (Note: this is Chorlton Park, not the separate Chorlton Water Park nearby.)
