About Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park is a green space in Blakenhall, south of Wolverhampton city centre, created on former industrial brownfield land and managed by City of Wolverhampton Council. As its name suggests, the park rose from reclaimed ground and has matured into a well-used community park that has flown the Green Flag in recognition of its quality. Families will find a children's play area offering play facilities for all ages, set among a wider mix of recreational features. There is a seated amphitheatre, two ball courts and outdoor fitness equipment, as well as open playing fields and a BMX track that runs through the woods for older children and teenagers. Nature is a strong theme here, with a sensory garden, wildflower meadow areas, a woodland zone and wildlife interpretation panels dotted along the walking paths. A car park and toilet serve visitors. The park actively encourages community involvement through a Friends of Phoenix Park group. With its blend of play, sport and wildlife-rich planting, Phoenix Park is a rounded destination for families in the Blakenhall area.
