About Splott Park
Splott Park is a well-used community park in Splott, in the east of Cardiff, managed by Cardiff Council and set beside the Splott leisure centre. Its biggest draw for families is the redeveloped play area, which was reopened following a major transformation delivered through the Council's Neighbourhood Renewal Scheme with community consultation and funding from the UK Government's Shared Prosperity Fund. The new play area has a puzzles and games theme and includes equipment for toddlers, juniors and teenagers, together with accessible, inclusive equipment and natural play spaces, so children of different ages and abilities can play together. The playground has long been associated with Jessie, a saddle tank steam engine that stood in the park for decades, reflecting the area's industrial steelworks heritage, and the redesign nods to that history. Beyond the play area, the park offers a skatepark, a football pitch, a basketball court and a bowling green, along with the adjoining leisure centre and a dedicated dog park area. Flat and centrally located, Splott Park is a popular spot for families, sport and informal recreation. It is open at all times with no charge for admission.
