About Charterhouse Heritage Park
Charterhouse Heritage Park surrounds the historic Coventry Charterhouse, a Carthusian monastery founded in 1385, just off London Road a short distance from the city centre. The parkland has been transformed by the Historic Coventry Trust working alongside Coventry City Council, with the play area and green spaces delivered as part of the wider heritage park project. The children's play area is free to enter with no admission ticket required, and includes baby swings, child swings and nest swings, a climbing frame, a climbing net, a fort with a slide, a balance beam and a trim trail. A newer 'blossom play area' adds space to run and climb among blossom trees. Beyond the playground there is a peaceful walled garden, open green space, picnic tables and lawns to picnic on, plus the restored River Sherbourne and wetland, a community orchard and new cycle and pedestrian routes. There is a large car park next to the play area which is free to use for visitors when the Charterhouse house is open. Access is from London Road (A4114) or on foot through the entrance between 229 and 232 Humber Avenue. The combination of a genuinely free play area and historic surroundings makes this a distinctive family destination in Coventry.
