About Central Park, Haworth
Central Park sits at the heart of Haworth village on Rawdon Road, a short walk from the famous Bronte Parsonage. It opened in 1927, with the bowling green and pavilion following in 1937, and is English Heritage Grade II listed for its historic design. While the park is most renowned for its beautiful flower gardens, it is also a well-used family space, with a children's play area located about 140 metres north-east of the principal entrance. Other facilities include a bowling green, a tennis court and walking routes through the grounds. Among its notable features are a memory garden of pillars and flower beds incorporating a stainless-steel sculpture called "The Meet" by local artist Craig Dyson, and a ground-level bandstand officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford in June 2014. The park has carried Green Flag status since 2006, recognising it as one of the district's high-quality green spaces, and it supports plentiful wildlife including foxes, squirrels, owls, woodpeckers, butterflies and moths. Central Park is open 24 hours a day, all year round, and is free to use. It is managed by the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council through Bradford District Parks.
