About Devonshire Park

Devonshire Park is a leafy conservation area in Keighley, bursting with trees and crossed by winding paths. It dates to 1888, when the Duke of Devonshire presented nine acres of land to the town of Keighley to mark Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, with the park formally opening on 4 September that year to a Victorian-era design. The children's play area combines some equipment enclosed in a secure, fenced area with play features dispersed across the open lawn, including a zip line, a timber trim trail and a slide and climbing along the embankment. Other facilities include a 5-a-side football pitch, a multi-use games area, outdoor fitness equipment and walking routes. As a designated conservation area the park is rich in wildlife, home to hedgehogs, red foxes, wood mice, ducks and herons, with native trees such as ash, beech, hawthorn and willow. The Friends of Devonshire Park organise regular events throughout the year. The park is open 24 hours a day, all year round, and is free to use. It is managed by the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, and Cliffe Castle and Devonshire Park are jointly recognised as a Local Historic Park and Garden on the council's register.
