About Endcliffe Park
Endcliffe Park is one of Sheffield's best-loved family parks, lying just off Ecclesall Road to the west of the city centre. It opened in 1887 to mark Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee and is the first in the chain of green spaces known as the Porter Valley Parks, which follow the Porter Brook out towards the Peak District. The park mixes open parkland with woodland, duck ponds and the river running through it, so there is plenty of room for ball games, paddling and walks. For families the main draw is the large children's playground, which was revamped in 2008 and has lots to climb and play on, plus a parkour and outdoor exercise facility and a smaller amusement area beside the cafe. The Endcliffe Park Cafe serves locally sourced food and there are public toilets on site. It is managed by Sheffield City Council as one of the city's parks, and is free to visit. With its riverside paths, ponds, cafe and busy playground it makes an easy, varied day out, and you can walk on up the valley to Bingham Park and Forge Dam.
