About New Parks Adventure Playground
New Parks Adventure Playground, locally known as 'The Venny', is a free, staffed adventure playground on Glenfield Road in the New Parks area of Leicester. It is a full-time, open-access facility that is free at the point of entry, with playworkers on site to supervise and help children and young people, although one-to-one support cannot be provided. It serves children aged 5 to 14 (from Year 1 upwards). Outdoors there is purpose-built play equipment including swings, slides, climbing nets and ropes, sand play, plus an astroturf pitch for sports and games. Indoors, children can enjoy pool, table tennis and football, TV and computers, arts and crafts, and a tuck shop. Opening hours are tailored to the school calendar: during term time it opens from 3pm to 6pm, and during school holidays, including the summer playscheme, it opens from 12 noon to 4pm. Run with Leicester City Council support, it is a long-standing community play resource for families in the west of the city.
