About Braunstone Park

Braunstone Park is one of Leicester's largest public parks, covering around 168 acres in the Braunstone area to the west of the city. Managed by Leicester City Council and free to enter, it is laid out around two lakes with extensive woodlands, meadows and large open green spaces. For families, the park offers a children's play area, a free council-funded adventure playground that runs activities during the school holidays, natural play areas and a trim trail, plus a skate park for older children and teenagers. There are also four football pitches, an outdoor gym and three formal gardens: a war memorial garden, a walled garden and an azalea garden. The park hosts a weekly parkrun every Saturday morning, first held in 2010, and sits next to Braunstone Leisure Centre at its edge. Paths are mostly level and suitable for walking, wheelchairs and pushchairs, with step-free entrances and accessible routes around key areas, and there is car parking on site. The mix of lakes, gardens, sport and varied play facilities makes Braunstone Park a major family destination on the west side of the city.
