About The Dings Park
The Dings Park is a neighbourhood green space on Oxford Street in the St Philip's area of east Bristol, managed by Bristol City Council. The name 'Dings' may have an Anglo-Saxon origin, referring to a meadow where withies (strong, flexible willow stems) grew. In former times the area was a slum of tightly packed back-to-back terraces, cleared in the 1930s, and the park now provides welcome open space for the community. The play area is designed to suit a wide range of abilities, with a large multiplay climbing frame as its centrepiece alongside rockers, a carousel, an adventure trail, a train seat and swings. There is also a basketball court for older children and ball games, plus grassed open space to run around on. The park is accessed off Oxford Street, St Philip's. It is open at all times with no admission charge, offering a free, accessible play destination close to the city centre.
