About Plantation Park

Plantation Park is a public park in the Plantation area, part of the former Burgh of Govan on Glasgow's south side between Cessnock, Ibrox and Kinning Park. Managed by Glasgow City Council, it has been the focus of recent council investment through the authority's play park improvement programme. Glasgow City Council's planned funded works allocated more than £170,000 to Plantation Park for new play equipment and surfacing, planting and bulb planting, and resurfacing of active travel routes within the park, with a further sum set aside for play renewal works. The planting works have been completed and surfacing works programmed for the autumn and winter, meaning families can expect a refreshed children's play area with updated equipment and safer surfacing. The area takes its name from the 18th-century Craigiehall estate, renamed Plantation by its owner; the estate was later absorbed by railway and shipbuilding development and the surrounding district became densely built tenement housing. Today Plantation Park provides a valued pocket of green space and modern play facilities for families in this part of south-west Glasgow.
