About Wythenshawe Park
Wythenshawe Park spreads across roughly 110 hectares (270 acres) of parkland around Wythenshawe Hall, a timber-framed Tudor house built around 1540 for the Tatton family, who held the estate from the 13th century until 1926. That year Sir Ernest and Lady Shena Simon bought the hall and some 250 acres and gave them to Manchester Corporation to be kept forever as open space for the people of the city, as the surrounding garden suburb of Wythenshawe was being built. For families the draw is the mix on one site: a children's play area, a free Community Farm with cows, sheep, goats, pigs and horses, and — since September 2022 — a £1.55m Cycle Hub with a pump track, learn-to-ride area and skills zones. The Courtyard Café and accessible toilets sit near the hall.
