About Tŷ Mawr Country Park
Tŷ Mawr Country Park lies on the banks of the River Dee near Cefn Mawr, in the scenic Vale of Llangollen within the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Run by Wrexham County Borough Council, it is free to enter and makes an easy, relaxed family day out close to Wrexham. The park keeps a collection of farm animals including sheep, pigs, goats, free-range chickens, ducks and two resident llamas called Carlos and Pedro, all of which can be sponsored to support the park. Children have a dedicated play area, a BMX track and a trim trail, and there is a surfaced circular pathway with gentle slopes and no stiles on the main trails, making it accessible for buggies and all abilities. A visitor centre and Linden's Coffee Barn provide refreshments, and there are toilets with disabled and baby-changing facilities. Dogs are welcome on leads within the designated signposted areas. Entry is free, although pay-and-display car parking costs GBP 1 per day (free for Blue Badge holders), with an annual season ticket available. Open every day of the year, it is a dependable low-cost option for families who want animals, play and riverside walks.
