About Cassiobury Park

Cassiobury Park is Watford's largest and best known green space, covering around 190 acres of parkland, meadows and woodland beside the River Gade and the Grand Union Canal. It is free to enter and holds both a Green Flag Award and Green Heritage Site accreditation for its historic landscape and conservation. For families the park is a real destination, with two children's playgrounds, a paddling pool that opens in warmer months, a miniature railway and a seasonal bouncy castle. Two outdoor gyms sit alongside the play areas for older children and adults. There is plenty of sport too, including football and cricket pitches, numerous grass and tarmac tennis courts, a basketball net, table tennis tables, croquet lawns and permit fishing. A cafe and snack kiosk, plus a seasonal ice cream van, keep visitors fed, and a bird hide, nature trail and community orchard reward quieter exploration. Designated a Local Nature Reserve, County Wildlife Site and Site of Special Scientific Interest, Cassiobury blends play, sport, heritage and wildlife in one place. A car park serves the Gade Avenue entrance.
