About Birchwood Forest Park

Birchwood Forest Park is a large public park in the Birchwood area of Warrington, laid out across land formerly occupied by the Royal Ordnance Factory at Risley. Managed by Warrington Borough Council, it combines spacious open greenspace with a range of play and sport facilities, making it a popular spot for local families. The children's play park sits beside a statue of Bo Peep and her sheep, and offers equipment including swings, a climbing frame and a roundabout, alongside a small outdoor gym and pieces aimed at both younger and older children. Nearby there is a skate park, an off-road bike and BMX track and a multi-use games area, as well as a football pitch and a nursery garden. A community venue on site operates as a small cafe, and a generous car park leads directly towards the playground. The park forms part of a wider network of green corridors in Birchwood and is free to enter, offering plenty of room to walk, cycle and play close to the M6 and M62.
