About Queen's Park (Longton Park)
Queen's Park, also known as Longton Park, is a Grade II listed Victorian park in Dresden, near Longton, in the south of Stoke-on-Trent. Opened in 1888 on land given by the Duke of Sutherland and laid out by John H. Garrett, it retains many fine nineteenth-century features including a cast-iron bandstand, gate lodges and a central stone clock tower, and it holds a Green Flag Award. Managed by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, it is a popular family park lying directly off Trentham Road. Its children's provision is well suited to a range of ages, with a separate play area for toddlers and another for juniors, as well as electronic interactive games that add a modern twist to a day in the park. Around the play areas the park offers tennis courts, skateboarding ramps and two full-size football pitches for older children and adults, while three bowling pavilions and controlled fishing cater to quieter pursuits. There are toilets on site and free parking, making it a convenient destination for families arriving by car. Dogs are welcome across the park but not inside the children's play area. With 24-hour public access and free entry, Queen's Park is a much-loved community green space that blends Victorian heritage with practical facilities for all ages.
