About Elmdon Park

Elmdon Park is a Green Flag Award park and local nature reserve in Elmdon, covering around 11 acres (4.5 hectares) and managed by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. It was created in 1944 when the then Solihull Urban District Council acquired the house and grounds of the derelict Elmdon Hall, which was demolished in 1956. The park is free to enter and open to pedestrians around the clock. Families come for the children's play area, which includes swings and a roundabout and offers play facilities for children of all ages and abilities, as well as outdoor table tennis. There are tennis courts free to hire and a bookable football pitch, plus a lake that is popular for feeding the ducks and gentle strolls. Walking trails run through the site and a heritage trail, created by the Friends of Elmdon, tells the story of the old hall and estate; the adjoining walled garden is managed as a nature reserve. Free car parking is available off Tanhouse Farm Road and Damson Parkway, with gates opening at 8:00am and closing seasonally. Bus routes serve the area and Olton train station is close by. A full AccessAble access guide is published by the council. With its mix of play, sport, water and woodland, Elmdon is a well-rounded family park.
