About Prospect Park
Prospect Park is Reading's largest park, a sweeping expanse of grassland, woodland and a pond on Liebenrood Road in west Reading. Its flagship children's play area opened in March 2023 after a major transformation and was designed to cater for children of all ages and abilities with a variety of challenge levels. Equipment includes roundabouts, swings and a zipwire, plus two large climbing towers with a tunnel slide and an access ramp. The council deliberately chose the play area's location and surfaces to give the best accessibility for families using pushchairs or mobility aids. Beyond the playground the park offers rugby, tennis, bowling, basketball and table tennis, along with wildlife areas, woodland walks and picnic spots. A much-loved miniature railway runs on the first Sunday of each month. The restored pavilion houses a multi-use activity centre with mini-golf, a low-ropes course and a climbing wall, together with a cafe. Toilets and parking are available, and the wide paths make it easy for families to explore the whole site. Entry to the park and its playground is free.
